Strategi Penanaman Akhlakul Karimah melalui Pembelajaran dan Pembiasaan di TPQ Nurul Jannah 2 Metro Utara

Abstract

The decline in moral values among early childhood has become a serious challenge in contemporary Islamic education. TPQ Nurul Jannah 2 Metro Utara implements a dual strategy through learning and habituation to instill noble character (akhlakul karimah). This study aims to describe the strategy of instilling noble character as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The research was conducted from January to March 2026 involving the head of TPQ, two teachers, and four parents of santri as subjects. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. The findings reveal that the character instillation strategy is carried out through learning methods including role modeling, interactive lectures, inspirational stories, and communal prayers, as well as habituation activities such as greeting, queuing, reading the Qur'an, Friday charity, and classroom cleaning. Supporting factors include parental support and a religious environment, while inhibiting factors include short learning duration and the influence of gadgets. The contribution of this study to the development of moral education in TPQ is threefold: first, it provides an integrative model of explicit learning and implicit habituation that can be adopted by other TPQ institutions; second, it offers empirical evidence on the importance of parental involvement and age-differentiated approaches in character instillation; and third, it serves as a foundation for designing structured habituation modules and teacher training programs. These implications are expected to enhance the effectiveness of moral education in non-formal Islamic educational settings.
