Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Qur’an and Sunnah Research Journal (QSRJ) undergo a rigorous and objective peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, relevance, and scholarly integrity. The journal applies a double-blind peer review system in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
To maintain the integrity of blind review, authors are required to remove all identifying information from the manuscript file before submission. Names of authors, institutional affiliations, acknowledgements, funding information, email addresses, ORCID IDs, and any other personal or institutional identifiers must not appear within the main manuscript document submitted for review. Self-citations should also be written carefully to avoid revealing author identity.
Each submission first undergoes an initial editorial screening conducted by the editorial board. At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated for its relevance to the journal scope, academic quality, writing standard, originality, ethical compliance, and conformity with the journal’s Author Guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum editorial requirements may be rejected before entering the peer review stage.
Manuscripts that pass the preliminary screening are then assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject area of the submission. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:
- Originality and novelty of the research
- Relevance to Qur’anic, Sunnah, and Islamic studies
- Methodological appropriateness and academic rigor
- Theoretical and analytical contribution
- Clarity of argumentation and organisation
- Use of relevant and credible references
- Language quality and academic writing standard
- Ethical integrity and scholarly consistency
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial board may decide to:
- Accept the manuscript without revision
- Accept with minor revisions
- Request major revisions
- Reject the manuscript
Authors receiving revision requests are expected to revise their manuscripts within the specified timeframe and provide a clear response to reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
The final decision regarding publication is made solely by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board based on reviewer evaluations, editorial considerations, and the journal’s publication standards.
QSRJ is committed to maintaining confidentiality, fairness, academic professionalism, and publication ethics throughout the entire review process. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, avoid conflicts of interest, and treat all unpublished materials as confidential documents.
