Abstract

The rapid evolution of emerging technologies and interactive media has fundamentally transformed the landscape of online Arabic language learning. This study aims to examine the role of emerging technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and mobile applications) and interactive media in shaping effective online Arabic learning strategies, as well as to evaluate how various online platforms contribute to Arabic language competency development. Using a systematic literature review method with a qualitative meta-synthesis approach, this study analyzed 85 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2026 from international and national journals. The findings reveal that emerging technologies play five critical roles: (1) personalizing learning through AI-driven adaptive systems, (2) providing immersive contextual experiences via VR/AR, (3) facilitating autonomous learning through mobile applications, (4) enhancing engagement through gamification and interactive media, and (5) enabling authentic communication through social media integration and chatbots. The study also identifies that successful online Arabic learning strategies require a balanced integration of technological affordances with pedagogical principles. This research contributes a comprehensive framework for understanding how emerging technologies and interactive media collectively shape online Arabic learning strategies and provides practical recommendations for educators, curriculum designers, and policymakers.
